Venezuela Scuba and Adventure Expedition
"Ten weeks of amazing adventure and a lifetime of memories."
Antony Wilson, 2008
Earn two PADI scuba diving qualifications, dive in some of the best diving spots in the world, learn Spanish, explore the Orinoco Delta by kayak, live with ‘Warao’ Indians, climb Mount Roraima, visit historic sites, go on a jeep tour to the mystical highlands, relax on Venezuelan beaches, climb and abseil down waterfalls
This scuba diving and adventure expedition takes you to enjoy an amazing range of activities in Venezuela – a beautiful South American country of remarkable diversity. From climbing to the top of moonscape mountains to diving in the depths of the Caribbean Sea, exploring colonial South American cities to meeting indigenous tribes that live in a jungle delta; the ten weeks you spend in Venezuela will take you to enjoy it all. During your time you do two PADI diving courses and qualifications and have approximately 100 hours of Spanish lessons. Therefore this Venezuelan adventure is a brilliant way to spend part of a gap year, sabbatical or holiday, and could even give you the boost you need for a career change.
You will be based 2 minutes from one of Venezuela’s most beautiful beaches, Playa Colorada, where surrounded by golden palm trees and pinks sands you will spend the first two weeks of the expedition completing two padi dive courses, which if you have not dived before will be PADI Open Water and Advanced Open Water diving qualifications. You will spend your daytime diving in the warm waters to earn your qualifications and explore the soft coral floors of the Caribbean Sea. In the afternoons you will have two hours a day learning Spanish in the open air. You will also have the chance to kayak to nearby picturesque islands, play volleyball on the beach and practice your Spanish as you explore the area meeting the locals.
This expedition is a marvellous combination of diving and adventure, and the adventure part of the expedition will take you to experience the unique diversity of landscapes, cities and cultures that Venezuela is home to. A kayaking adventure will take you deep into the Orinoco Delta (an intricate maze of waterways that weave through lush jungles) to meet the indigenous Warao Indians. You will also have the chance to trek to the top of the world’s highest tabletop mountain, Mount Roraima, go on a jeep safari to experience the unique culture of the Pemon Indians and wander the streets of some beautiful colonial cities. Indeed, you may find it hard to fit it all in!
